Who She Is

Yute Leader

Angelika Belle, born Angelica Opufo Adindu, is a Nigerian reggae singer, songwriter, performer and member of LOUD Urban Choir.

Originally from Port Harcourt, Rivers State, she is recognised for her soulful voice, expressive stage presence and exceptionally long dreadlocks. Her distinctive appearance has made her one of the most visually identifiable female members of LOUD Urban Choir, while her solo catalogue has established her as an emerging voice in Nigerian and African reggae.

Angelika Belle’s sound blends reggae, Afro-reggae, Afropop, dancehall, soul and contemporary R&B. Her work sits within Nigerian music and African music while carrying a female empowerment message for young African women. She began performing professionally as the lead singer of The Blue Pearls Band and later built an audience through reggae interpretations of popular Afrobeats songs.

After attracting the attention of Nigerian music icon Sound Sultan, she joined his Naija Ninjas label in 2021. She has continued to develop her independent solo career alongside her role in LOUD Urban Choir.

Origins & Career

Born Angelika Opufo Adindu in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, she studied Theatre Arts at the University of Port Harcourt and spent six years as lead singer of The Blue Pearls Band, where she developed the vocal command and stage presence that now define her live performances.

After relocating to Lagos in 2018 for NYSC, she began releasing reggae reinterpretations of popular Afrobeats records online, quickly building an audience drawn to her genre-blending style. Her debut single, "1N DAY," arrived in 2019, followed in 2020 by "Dreadlocks," "Brighter Day," and "Burn" (featuring DanDizzy). Her reggae cover of Sound Sultan's "Faya Faya" caught the attention of the late Afrobeats legend himself, leading to her signing with his label, Naija Ninjas, in 2021. Under the imprint she released "Sho'Ma" and "Broken or Not" — the former earning her a Best Alternative Song win at the 2022 Galaxy Music Awards, following two award nominations. She has remained independent since Sound Sultan's passing.

Milestones & Collaborations

In 2024, "Dreadlocks" found a second life on TikTok, sparking over 15,000 user-generated videos and trending across Nigeria, the United States, and Haiti. Angelika Belle has also built recognition with listeners and viewers in Haiti through Instagram and TikTok. She followed the moment with a February 2025 remix featuring Seychellois artist Elijah, and went on to headline as a featured international act at Seychelles' "Big 100" Labour Day concert in Victoria.

Angelika has shared stages and studios with some of Africa's biggest names, including Davido, Kizz Daniel, and Fiokee, and has performed alongside Arya Starr and Kelly Rowland as a member of the Loud Urban Choir. Her live résumé spans major African stages: Bole Festival, HERTITUDE (Zikoko), the Jameson Distillery Tour Lagos, PLUGGED the Music Festival, Aso Rock, and FlyTime Fest with Martell.

What's Next

Angelika's identity channels a Gen-Z take on Bob Marley's free-spirited aesthetic alongside a nostalgic 90s girl-next-door sensibility — a look and energy positioning her as an artist to watch in both music and fashion. That identity now extends into "The Gospel of Rasta Maria," a musical and cultural movement centered on female empowerment in music and empowering young African women, and into The Yute Republic, an upcoming fashion and lifestyle platform designed around African body types and affordable, culturally rooted style.

In 2026, Angelika Belle is expanding into curated live sessions and immersive fan experiences as she grows her global Female Yute community — continuing a mission to put young African women on the world stage as creators, trendsetters, and cultural pioneers.
